The hotel is located on the western side of Tarean Road, previously the Pacific Highway prior to the bypass. It is at the southern end of the township of Karuah in the Port Stephens shire. The locality has a strong tourism industry with Nelson Bay being downstream from Karuah. Port Stephens attracts visitors from throughout NSW, Australia and overseas. Karuah is a noted fishing holiday destination with a strong oyster growing industry. Karuah is approximately 40 minutes north of Newcastle and 2 hours from Sydney. Karuah is undergoing a growth spurt due to the combined recent effects of the highway bypass and the introduction of sewer to the town. There are several subdivisions planned for Karuah at the hotel end of town.
